Seduced by the City: Gay’s Trivia and Hogarth

Rather less well known are the connections between Hogarth and Gay’s poem Trivia, published in 1716, about the art of walking the streets of London. Hogarth didn’t illustrate this, there’s no evidence he read it, and I don’t claim that the poem is an influence.
